On Friday 19th November many members of our St Denis church congregation joined the well attended Revel Group service held at our mother church, St. Edith’s, Monks Kirby. The event took the form of a Songs of Praise service with a hymn offered by each of the Revel Group churches commencing with a favourite contribution chosen by Ann and Richard Latham
On 26th November a family service was held at St Denis church conducted
by Richard Latham and Mrs. Ruth Bilson.
The congregation was reminded that the annual parish carol and christingle
service will be held on Sunday 3rd December at 10.30 am for which a locally
assembled choir is already rehearsing a programme of traditional carols.
Pailton Post Office and stores continues to extend its range of goods and
services with a special display of Christmas novelties and gifts.
Members of the community who value the enterprising vigour of Sharon and John
in providing this invaluable local shop are urged to respond to any of the
newspaper campaigns supporting the retention of rural post offices currently
under threat of review.
Talented Victoria Gillias of Coventry Road will be travelling to London on 3rd December together with a group of aspiring young performers belonging to the Triple Art dance troupe based in Rugby. This group has already passed a national audition and will graduate to a contest based on Disney melodies and modern jazz at the Shaftsbury Theatre which could lead to exciting opportunities in the world of show business.

The season of entertainments opens at the village hall with a ‘Live & Local’ performance by the Daniel Smith Blues Band on Friday 1st December at 7.30. This highly acclaimed group, with Daniel Smith nominated as the keyboardist of the year, promises to entertain the audience in great style. Some tickets may still be available at the Post Office for those not wanting to miss this golden opportunity for a very enjoyable evening at a local venue. The Village Trust, in response to a request made in the Parish Plan initial questionnaire, is looking into the possibility of starting a Youth Club based at the village hall. Posters have been delivered throughout the village asking for comments and ideas for such a scheme. It is hoped that teenagers will hand their replies into the Post Office so the Trust may assess the viability of this project in the near future.
