Pailton Musical Seranade

Saturday 12th May marked one of the most successful of our many community entertainments in the form of a musical evening organised by the Village Trust committee.

The event had been well publicised and attracted a particularly large attendance from Pailton and surrounding parishes with a few adding dignity to the occasion by appearing in formal evening attire.
The first half of the programme was provided by the Ella Quartet  who played a delightful selection of both classical and modern pieces. The four instrumentalists are members of the North Warwickshire Chamber Orchestra and had been introduced by fellow musician Patricia Barnett, a member of the Trust committee.

During the interval an enticing array of snacks was provided by the committee which the Master of Ceremonies, John Cunliffe, rightly described as “food like we have never seen before”.

Before the entertainment continued the new chairholder, Lesley French, made a floral presentation to her predecessor, Maria Swindell, also to the outgoing Secretary, Helen Cunliffe. Both were thanked for their energetic contributions during previous years.

The traditional raffle attracted a lively response and made a worthy contribution to the Village Trust funds.

The second half of the programme featured the choral group ‘Cavatina’ which included local tenor Mike Handsford and members of the Warwickshire Singers choir.Their greatly polished performance coupled with their versatile repertoire attracted the highest acclaim from the audience who all declared their grateful appreciation for being able to enjoy such exquisite entertainment in our remote rural community.
