Present: Gill, Maria, Clair, Tony, Joanna and Helen
Apologies: Chris
Minutes of the last meeting read and agreed.
Clair reported that Dr Teeth on Saturday, October 1st, 2005 is now sold out. The next Live and Local event ‘A Magical Tour of the Andes’ performed by Caliche, is on Saturday 26th November. This is a night of music and anecdotes from all over their South American homeland. During the interval the audience will have the chance to play some of their unusual instruments.
The committee discussed all the comments relating to the Village Hall and playing field. Against each comment the committee entered a comment which will translate into an action plan as well as feedback to the Parish Plan committee. This action plan will be published as part of the Parish Plan document. Village Hall A fridge has been purchased and will be installed before the next Live and Local event. As a result of some of the comments in the questionnaire, it was decided that an advert will placed in the November edition of Round the Revel, advertising the regular groups/activies along with contact numbers. Also details of how to book the Village Hall. These will also be placed on the village internet site (www.pailton.org.uk).
It was decided that the committee will concentrate on the Playing Field after the recent refurbishment on the Village Hall.
Unfortunately, the very kind villager who cut the grass during the summer has now resigned. The committee thank him for all his efforts which were gratefully appreciated. Helen will now report back to the Parish Council and ask them to add the playing field to the general village grass cutting scheme.
Tony reported that he had trouble trying to purchase a goal post for the field. Most companies would only supply two goalposts, but he has now found a company that will supply a single goalpost and has now been ordered.
Tony will report
on delivery at the next meeting.
As result of the inspection of the playing field last year, we now have to replace
some of the equipment. Joanna has found a couple of sources of grants, one
which will pay up to £5000 towards playground equipment. She has filled
out the form and will obtain the necessary quotes. Helen will approach Shilton
Parish Council
to obtain information which will assist Joanna in obtaining quotes. So far
the cheapest slide found for community playing fields is approximately £7000,
installed.
Over the summer Clair has been approached by villagers wishing to borrow the table and chairs from the Village Hall. It was decided that a charge should be made in future for any hire of Hall equipment. This will be an agenda item at the next meeting.
As the Parish Council now meet on the first Monday of each month, the committee decided to meet on the last Monday of the month, so that they can report into the Parish Council meeting the following week and that they would be able to submit up to date information into the next edition of Round the Revel.
Date of next meeting - Monday 31st October, 2005.
